The Science Behind Clarity Shampoo

A Functional Ingredient Breakdown

Our Clarity Shampoo is formulated with a specific focus on detoxification and tone clarity, using natural rhassoul clay as a primary active ingredient.

1. What is Clay and Why is it Used in Clarity Shampoo?

Rhassoul Clay is a fine, silty powder that absorbs impurities and is used for cleansing, purifying, and rejuvenating your scalp and hair.

In Clarity Shampoo, clay serves as a clarifying agent, helping to remove:

Product buildup (e.g., silicones, chemical styling products)

Environmental pollutants (e.g, chlorine & sea salt)

Hard water mineral deposits (e.g, copper, calcium, magnesium)

This cleansing process enhances the natural reflectivity and brightness of the hair.

2. How Clay Affects Hair Tone

Rhassoul clay has adsorptive properties, meaning it binds to impurities and residues on the hair surface.

This is particularly beneficial for people with:

Grey or silver hair, which can become dull or yellowed due to oxidation and buildup

Blonde (natural or colour-treated) hair, where tone clarity is often diminished by minerals and styling residue

By removing microscopic deposits and debris, clay helps to reveal a cooler, cleaner underlying tone without chemical lighteners or purple pigments (a natural alternative to purple shampoo).

3. Scalp Health and Sebum Regulation

Clay also contributes to scalp health. Absorbs excess sebum and microbial buildup, supporting a balanced scalp environment.

This can be useful for individuals prone to:

  • Oily scalp
  • Flakiness due to product overload
  • Reduced hair volume from heavy conditioners or styling products

4. Compatibility with Sensitive Scalps

Unlike sulfates or synthetic surfactants, clay is non-foaming and non-irritating and safe for the environment. It provides mechanical—not chemical or physical (micro beads)—cleansing, making it suitable for sensitive or reactive skin types.
